Love Ina Garten

Barefoot Contessa cookbooks were very popular when I worked for Borders, Books, and Music. The cookbook buyer had so many beautiful books in the mid 1990s.

As a family we watched so much Food TV all the time.  We would line up on the couch and watch all sorts of cooking shows and especially Iron Chef. I don't have a cable or watch TV very much but I still watch a lot of cooking and grocery hauls on Youtube.

Her memoir is a perfect audiobook,  I had not originally had it on my TBR list but I added it after listening to a podcast and everyone was recommending it. Be Ready When the Luck Happens is a beautiful retelling of her full life.

Ina is wonderful. She is a great storyteller and her life has been very interesting. When she and her husband first married she was a military spouse and she speaks of her memories fondly.

She remembers September 11, 2001, she was in Paris filled with grief but heard a band in a park playing the United States National Anthem.

It was fun to hear about producing cookbooks, cooking shows, and renovating her kitchens.

Loved it. It filled me with lots of nostalagia.

She is was born in 1948, and if you know me, I always do the mental math of mom born in 1941.
