I had to reread this three times

part of an email about benefits today...

Change to domestic partner eligibility. XXXXX benefit programs will no longer offer coverage for opposite-sex domestic partners or their children. If you’re affected by this change, you’ll have options to continue health benefits for your domestic partner and your domestic partner’s children for up to 36 months by paying the full cost of coverage under rules similar to COBRA. There is no change to benefits eligibility for same-sex domestic partners.
