Kiva is now in Detroit! Kiva recently launched a new non-profit, community coalition to bring more than $500,000 in microloans to Detroit small businesses.
Our First Kiva City
Kiva City is a new way for Kiva to accelerate the growth of U.S. microfinance by empowering communities. Our first Kiva City is Kiva Detroit, a partnership between Kiva, Michigan Corps, Knight Foundation and ACCION USA to expand the reach of Kiva lenders to the entrepreneurs in Detroit.
Kiva City was announced by President Bill Clinton at CGI America. You can see the video here.

Kiva City creates alliances between Kiva, local civic leaders, local community organizations, and financial institutions. A Kiva City alliance, such as Kiva Detroit, enables Kiva to expand the reach of its lenders, through the help of the local community.
