Playing for Freedom by Zarifa Adiba and Anne Chaon

Playing for Freedom by Zarifa Adiba and Anne Chaon

A detailed book about Zarifa living in Afghanistan, finding music, facing the Taliban, and loving her country.
It is beautiful and inspiring.
My heart continues to be with the women and children trapped and living in danger.

Bird by Bird

 So ... so .. good.

This book is one of the few books I might reread atleast once or twice more in my lifetime.

There are so many good nuggets. Anne Lamott dances and addresses life grief, adulting, mothering, addiction, struggle, pain, joy, faith, and Jesus with a voice I can resonate with. I walk through my life with paths and paths of imperfection bumping into amazing people on their own journeys and it is our reactions that make difference.  The title....  comes from some advice her father gave her brother when he had to write a school report about birds. The kid couldn’t figure out a way to do it. His father said: “Bird by bird, buddy.”

Her thoughts about liable writing and how to change characters persona's but keep them right where they need to be is perfection.
