Book Two

I really had no intentions of reading The Hunger Games books.
Book Two - was so good. But I am loving them.
I am cheering silently for Katniss and screaming inside at the over reach of the government.

one year...

A year ago anger swelled in my body like I cannot even explain.

The cancer took my uncle’s life. I know my mom was waiting for him on the outside.

For weeks I was so ticked and honestly I still am.

He was my mom’s brother and so good to me after my dad died. He was my godfather but not out of obligation but out love for family.

As I got older it sickens me that we only had yearly conversations around the holidays.

He was the last one that had stories about my mom growing up and how they lived life in rural Michigan.

Even more important to me he was one of my war heroes.

He was drafted and the events that followed changed his life.

Rest Uncle Marty… I love you.

Just thinking a bit.
So, good on Starbucks Coffee last week for removing beetle extracts from their Strawberry drinks.
Article from Huffington Post Starbucks Beetle Extract: Chain Ditches Controversial Insect Ingredient [UPDATED]

BUT my question and I cannot find the answer...
Who were the farmers of the beetles? And what are they doing now?

Did the Vegan organizations find an alternative crop for them to farm?
In these rural areas farming is key and often times the one doing the farming is a women. She does this so her children are not hungry and they can go to school.

OK – Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
It took me awhile to get on the bandwagon and the first third of the book I put down at least five times.
But I picked it back this week while on business travel and finished it. It is good!
I will read book two and check out the movie when I get a chance.

This business trip has been refreshing – I feel slightly more strategic about my job and decisions to stay, visited great people I have worked with for years and miss dearly, a quick trip to Trader Joe’s and a little a peace.
Watched frivolous TV on Showtime and Fox News. No regrets about tv at home but it was nice to veg out.
Obviously, I am carrying this constant struggle to figure things out. Big things, little things and stupid things. arggghh....

Hoping the weather is warm this weekend so I walk some of that out this weekend and take in the missed yoga of the week.

I believe all of this with all my
heart.
I am thankful for all of the amazing love and signs and wonders from just this week. Too many to count.
Kindness from strangers, smiles from a friend, beautiful Spring mule deer, hugs from muchkins, Ocean’s gripping stare and my
freedom.
